Every now and then when I'll post a sketch on Instagram, a Wolverine or Mega Man or something, someone down in the comments will ask what happened to Filo.
Way back a long time ago (early last year), we introduced Filo, and announced that we were working on a book to tell his story. I posted some character sketches and page layouts regularly for a while, and then...nothing.
So, what happened? Well, nothing really. We’re still chipping away at it, in between real jobs, weekend soccer games, evening ballet recitals, a beautiful new baby boy, and all the things life brings. But that’s the program. Some things are simply more important, sometimes by necessity, but mostly by choice. I'm daddy first.
But like I said, we're chipping away at it. As of now, I've either laid out or fully pencilled somewhere between 30 and 40 pages. We've also scrapped a good handful of those as better ideas presented themselves. The best stuff generally happens when Eman and I are together in the same room with no distractions, so we’ve been setting aside one day a week (currently it’s "Filo Fridays") to lock ourselves in after work, order some food, and burn fuel on Filo's story late into the night. Little by little, we're moving forward. When the time is right, I'll post some more art updates.
In the meantime, shout out to the guy in my Instagram comments for staying on top of it. I love that guy.
